But you didn't deal with the most significant chat issue, how to deal with the constant "I'm giving away a MacBook" fraud/spam comments. The spam specifically via chat is really bad, and I've seen multiple people say they are closing down their chat because of it
I'm using the same settings you suggest, threads can only be started by me or paying subs. Is your suggestion to just lock it down further and paywall everything? That would only work for very large publications, I dont have the paid sub base to have any kind of active chat with only paid subs
It isn't one or two people. I do ban them as they come up, but I'm just playing whack-a-mole, they just pop up again with the same message from a different account. Others have reported the same thing, I've observed the exact same word for word spam in other chats, and I've seen publications say they're locking down or eliminating their chat specifically because of this. Is this not a known issue among Substack employees?
